Jason Derulo celebrates second week at Number 1 on UK Singles Chart

Natalie La Rose's 'Somebody' is at Number 2

Jason Derulo has notched up a second week at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart with ‘Want To Want Me’.

The track’s 75,000 combined chart sales (including 2.07 million streams) over the last seven days keeps it at Number 1 for a second consecutive week. ‘Want To Want Me’ needed to overtake midweek leader Natalie La Rose, however, whose debut single ‘Somebody’ leaps 61 places to Number 2 following its full download release this week.

OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’, a former Number 1, is at 3, while Major Lazer, MO and DJ Snake’s ‘Lean On’ rebounds three spots to 4. Rounding off the Top 5 and logging its fourth week in the Top 10 is Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber’s ‘Where Are U Now’.

Elsewhere, US rapper Fetty Wap leaps five places and reaches a new peak at 15 with ‘Trap Queen’, while Florence + The Machine notches up their ninth Top 40 hit with ‘Ship To Wreck’ at 27. The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ enters the Top 40 at 30.

‘Want To Want Me’ is Derulo’s fourth UK Number 1 after ‘In My Head’ (2010), ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ (2011) and ‘Talk Dirty’ (2013). “I just want to say thank you to all the fans for giving me this tremendous pleasure,” he said last week upon entering the chart. “It never ever gets old. Honestly, it feels just as good every time, if not better.”

The singer debuted the video for ‘Want To Want Me’ in March via the dating app Tinder. He explained the decision to US Weekly, describing Tinder as “the perfect place” to release the single: “Social media and dating together is the new wave. It is the source of one half of the relationships in 2015, and I’m all about being part of the new wave.

“A lot of my friends and family members are on Tinder… [It’s] the perfect place for my new single, ‘Want to Want Me’. On Tinder, you swipe left or right and want the person you like to want you, too. It is a cool and unique way to deliver my new video to the world.”
