Jay-Z set for Barack Obama’s inauguration after missing victory party?

Celebrity supporters allegedly asked to steer clear of Chicago rally

Celebrity supporters of Barack Obama, including Jay-Z, were allegedly asked to stay clear of the president elect’s victory party last night (November 4).

However, the rapper, and other supporters including Mary J. Blige and P Diddy, could be invited to the Democrat’s presidential inauguration in January, according to sources in his campaign team.

Obama celebrated his win with crowds at Grant Park in Chicago – however, according to local paper the Chicago Sun Times, his more famous supporters were asked not to attend for fear of pulling focus away from the new president.

The paper quoted a source in Obama‘s camp saying: “There really only needs to be one star in Grant Park, and that’s Barack.”

Actors Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Ben Affleck were also among those allegedly asked not to attend, although Oprah Winfrey did attend.

However, according to the same source, the likes of Jay-Z could be present when Obama is swore in as president in Washington DC on January 20, explaining: “There will be plenty of time for a new President Obama to be surrounded by famous fans, all hopeful about a new administration.”
