Rapper joins Mary J. Blige, Diddy to back Barack Obama in Philadelphia

Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce and P Diddy made an appearance in Philadelphia yesterday (November 3) to give some last-minute encouragement for people to vote in today’s US general election.

Around 10,000 people turned out to see the hip-hop and RnB superstars in front of the Uptown Theater at lunchtime, where Jay-Z made a speech to encourage the crowd to vote Democrat.

“I need y’all to be really, really quiet for this. I need you to really understand what I’m telling you. Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. Obama‘s running so we all can fly,” Jay-Z told the crowd, repeating his comments at a similar rally in Virgina at the weekend.

As previously reported, P Diddy placed his vote today in a midtown Manhattan school, saying he felt his vote could be the one to elect Barack Obama as the first-ever African-American President.
