Jay-Z and Kanye West joint album rush-release rumours denied

Management 'sources' deny 'Watch The Throne' is coming out on Monday (July 4)

Rumours that Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s joint album will be released on Monday (July 4) have been denied by ‘sources’ close to the project.

Earlier this week, MTV reported that ‘Watch The Throne’ would come out as a digital-only release on American Independence Day.

However, sources “close to Jay-Z‘s management team” have now told VH1 that the rumoured release is “not happening”.

The album had previous been rumoured to be coming out in January and then in March. The first single from the record, ‘HAM’, was released online earlier this year.

Beyonce and Bruno Mars have recorded a track, ‘Lift Off’, for the album, while producer Bangladesh has said he’s contributed a couple of tracks.

Producer Young Guru gave an update on the progress of the recording sessions last March, stating that the album needs only a few “tweaks”.

In October last year, Kanye West confirmed the duo’s plans to record in the south of France, commenting: “We’ll probably be done with the album in a day or whatever.”

He added: “We’ve done about five [songs] so far… but we got some more. But think about it, it’s really easy; he only has to think of 10 verses.”
