Punter in hospital after being bottled at singer's BlackBerry bash, say reports

A man is currently in “serious condition” in hospital after he was stabbed in the neck with a bottle at a Jessie J gig, according to reports.

The unnamed punter, who is said to be in his 30s, was attacked after the ‘Do It Like A Dude’ singer’s show at the Pulse nightclub in Southwark, London, says the Daily Telegraph. The show was sponsored by mobile phone company BlackBerry in an attempt to boost their consumer division, and was also attended by rappers Wretch 32 and Chipmunk, cast members of reality shows The Only Way Is Essex and Made In Chelsea, and competition winners.

According to witnesses, the fracas broke out as fans were heading to the cloakroom after J had finished her set at 11.40pm. Police have arrested one unidentified man, while other guests were kept inside the club until nearly 2am as officers conducted their investigation.

Channel 4’s technology correspondent Benjamin Cohen, who was at the show, said:

Everyone tried to leave at the same time but the organisers weren’t geared up for it and there was a huge rush to get to the cloakroom. People were crying and quite a lot were being sick, whether from the blood or the alcohol.

He went on to add: “A lot of people here were teen users of BlackBerry who don’t seem to have had a free drink before. It is atrocious for BlackBerry.”

Jessie J released her debut album ‘Who You Are’ in February last year, and is thought to be working on the follow-up this year. She is also currently starring as a mentor in the BBC’s new reality singing show The Voice.
