CASH-ING IN

It's a haven for fans of the Man In Black...

Over 650 items belonging to the late Johnny Cash,

including guitars, handwritten lyrics, letters and GRAMMY AWARDS, are to be sold at auction this September.

Furniture and other personal items belonging to Johnny Cash and his late wife June Carter Cash will also go under the hammer at Sotherbys in New York.

Music titan Johnny Cash died in September last year, just four months after his wife.

Amongst the lots expected to attract most attention are a guitar estimated to be worth $15,000 (£8,500) and a long leather black jacket valued at $8,000 (£4,500).

“He and June Carter Cash are true American icons,

and this sale presents countless opportunities for collectors as well as fans of the Man in Black,” Leila Dunbar of Sotheby’s Collectibles Department told BBC News.

“His influence extended beyond any specific genre with his ability to blend the lines between country, folk, gospel, rock and pop.”
