'Asleep Versions' features King Creosote and represents "the quieter, more meditative side of the album"
Jon Hopkins has announced the release of a four-track EP titled ‘Asleep Versions’.
The EP will be released on November 10 and follows his Mercury Prize-nominated 2013 album ‘Immunity’. Scroll down to watch an animated trailer for the EP, designed and directed by Robert Hunter.
‘Asleep Versions’ was recorded in Iceland at Sundlaugin Studios, near Reykjavik, in February 2014. The EP is composed of “four decelerated, dreamlike re—imaginings” of songs from ‘Immunity’. The four tracks are intended to be heard as one single 25-minute piece and represent “the quieter, more meditative side of the album.” The EP will also feature additional vocals from Braids vocalist, Raphaelle Standell.
The EP will be available on 12-inch record, as well as in a limited double CD edition featuring both ‘Immunity’ and ‘Asleep Versions.’
Jon Hopkins will be curating a night at The Warehouse Project in Manchester on December 12, 2014 alongside Jamie XX, with guest spots from John Talabot, Pangaea, Leon Vynehall and Modeselektor, amongst others. Next year, Hopkins will be performing his biggest show to date at London’s Brixton Academy on April 24, 2015.
