Peter Hook to play Joy Division’s ‘Closer’ at second May show

Bassist set for second visit to his old band's classic album

Peter Hook has announced details of a second gig at which he will play Joy Division‘s 1980 album ‘Closer’ in its entirety live.

The bassist is set to play the album live with his band, Peter Hook’s The Light, at The Factory in Manchester on May 18. He will now play a second show the following night (19), after the first show sold out.

Hook‘s band are also to release a four-song EP on May 9. Titled ‘1102/2011’, it feature covers of Joy Division tracks ‘New Dawn Fades’, ‘Insight’ and ‘Atmosphere’ and a version of an unreleased song from the band.

Hook sings on one of the tracks, with former Happy Mondays backing singer Rowetta on lead vocals on the other three.

As well as these shows, Peter Hook’s The Light will also play Joy Division‘s 1979 debut album ‘Unknown Pleasures’ at London‘s Scala on April 23 and Edinburgh‘s Liquid Room on April 30.
