“I’m excited to share this performance and this new material with my fans around the world. The EMAs are always a blast. I’m glad to be back and it’s going to be fun,” Bieber said.

Billed as an ‘epic night of music and mayhem’, the awards are voted on by members of the public, with voting remaining open until midnight the night before the event on MTV’s award show website.

Nominees across the dozens of categories include Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding and Foo Fighters. Taylor Swift leads the charge with eight nominations.

Bieber releases new album ‘Purpose’ in November.
