Electronic musician hides copies of his CD in 5,000 Justin Bieber cases as April Fool’s prank

Producer Paz pranked Bieber by swapping copies of their albums

An electronic musician has claimed that he hid 5,000 copies of his own album inside cases of Justin Bieber CDs.

As Billboard (via Associated Press) reports, the producer Paz swapped copies of Bieber’s ‘Believe’ album with his own record ‘From The Bottom Of My Heart To The Top Of Your Lungs’ as an April Fool’s prank.

An Associated Press reporter confirmed that they had found copies of Paz’s CD inside ‘Believe’ cases in US retailers Best Buy and Target. “We were meticulous,” said the producer. “We paid a lot of attention to detail because we wanted these to stay up on shelves as long as possible.”

He also claimed that “the world won’t really miss a Justin Bieber record” and added: “The general idea is that retail stores make it almost impossible for independent musicians to get their music in there.

“I’ve always believed that retail stores can be the best outlets and ambassadors for independent music. They just choose not to be and sell the same recycled shit. We thought, ‘If they’re going to lock their doors to independent musicians, we’re just going to knock them down and get our music in there.'”

Despite the swap, each CD was scanned by staff and paid for as if it were a copy of Bieber’s album. Paz boasted about the trick in a post on his Facebook page, which you can see here.

Bieber was arrested earlier this year and subsequently pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and using an expired license after police say he was caught drag racing in Miami Beach. He will face trial on May 5.
