Stacey Wilson Betts says the singer's teenage fans ruined her hearing
Justin Bieber is being sued for $9 million (£5.8 million) by a woman who is accusing him of giving her “ear damage”.
The woman, whose name is Stacey Wilson Betts, accompanied her daughter to Bieber’s show in Portland, Oregon on July 14, 2010 and alleges that a “sound blast” left her with tinnitus and permanently damaged hearing, reports TMZ.
In the lawsuit, Betts complains that the “heart-shaped aluminum/steel gondola” that lifted Bieber above the audience “created a wave-like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena”.
She also claims that the pint-sized popstar made things worse by “enticing the crowd into a frenzy of screams by continuously waving his arms in a quick and upward motion”.
Betts has filed the lawsuit against Bieber, his record label, the concert promoter and the venue for $9.23 million (£5.96 million) in damages.
Bieber released his second studio album ‘Believe’ in June. He tours the UK in February next year, with a total of 10 arena dates booked.
