Justin Timberlake to star in baseball film

Pop star began shooting 'The Open Road' this week

Justin Timberlake will portray fictional baseball player Carlton Garrett in the upcoming film ‘The Open Road’.

Timberlake stars alongside Jeff Bridges, who plays Timberlake‘s father and a major league baseball player with whom his son tries to reconnect.

The pop star recently attempted to meet with Houston Astros’ Double-A team in Austin for research purposes, but scheduling conflicts made it impossible, reports the Associated Press.

Justin wants to portray what it’s like playing for the Hooks, playing for an Astros minor league team and playing at Whataburger Field,” said Hooks President J.J. Gottsch. Timberlake‘s character is the star of the minor league Corpus Christi team in the film.

Shooting for the film began in Louisiana earlier this week.
