Justin Timberlake performs for Barack Obama – watch

Singer performs Otis Redding's '(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay' at the White House

Justin Timberlake performed for the Obamas at the White House last night, singing the Otis Redding song ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay’ – scroll down to watch it.

Timberlake spent all day with the Obama family, teaching a workshop called Soulsville USA with First Lady Michelle Obama in the daytime before taking part in an evening celebrating Memphis soul music. Mavis Staples and Ben Harper also performed at a concert which will be aired as part of the PBS series In Performance At The White House on April 16.

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake has said he understands why some people laughed at his second album ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’. The ‘Mirrors’ singer, who has just released his third album ‘The 20/20 Experience’, says he was criticised by some sectors of the media and fans for “trying to do something different”.

However, the singer’s reign at the top of the Official Albums Chart in the UK looks to be coming to an end this week with the news that Paramore’s new self-titled album is selling three times as many copies as Timberlake’s after being released on Monday (April 8).
