'Suit & Tie' singer insists changed line in song was not aimed at the rapper
Justin Timberlake has denied dissing Kanye West during a performance of ‘Suit & Tie’ on US TV show Saturday Night Live.
It was widely reported that Timberlake changed a line in the song from “shit so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit” to “my hit’s so sick, got rappers acting dramatic” in order to take a swipe at Kanye West, who criticised the singer’s comeback song during an onstage rant in London last month.
However, Timberlake has now played innocent to the diss and told US talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he has no knowledge whatsoever of changing the lyrics in the song. “Did I change lyrics? I don’t remember,” he smiled. “You know, really, everyone, keep calm. Let me just, for the record…I absolutely love Kanye. So there’s that. We love Kanye, right?”
Both acts will headline individual dates prior to the joint show, with Justin Timberlake headlining the festival on Friday July 12, and Jay-Z closing the Saturday (July 13). However, the pair will come together for a special preview of their US tour, titled Legends of the Summer, on Sunday July 14. They will be joined by an impressive line-up of hip-hop acts on that date including A$AP Rocky, Nas and A Tribe Called Quest’s first UK show in 20 years.
