And NME is going along for the ride
Kaiser Chiefs have confirmed details of a North American tour for 2007.
The band will hit the road in April in association with none other than NME .
NME Presents Kaiser Chiefs will see the band play four special club shows, giving US fans their first live taste of the band’s forthcoming second album.
Confirming the team-up, frontman Ricky Wilson said he was glad to be touring with NME.
“NME is the first place any new band wants to see their name in print. Unlike most magazines you don’t have to have sold a million records to get on the front cover,” he explained. “The influence it has on the British music scene is immense, and it’s time to spread that to the US with NME.COM launching there. Like Spiderman, with great power comes great responsibility. If NME was evil we would all be fucked.
He added he was now looking forward to the North American dates: “I can’t think of many indie bands that have tried to take over the world… except us, so its just common sense to hook up with NME for a North American Tour in April to launch Kaiser Chiefs‘ new crusade over there.”
Kaiser Chiefs play the following dates:
New York Roseland Ballroom (April 13)
Toronto Kool Haus (18)
Chicago Vic Theatre (20)
San Francisco Warfield Theatre (27)
More dates will be announced soon, with tickets for the shows set to go on sale early next year.
