'Employment' named Best Album at ShockWaves NME Awards 2006

Kaiser Chiefs have scooped the Best Album at the ShockWaves NME Awards 2006.

In a fantastic year for the group, NME readers voted ’Employment’ the best record of the last 12 months.

Other nominees included Bloc Party’s ’Silent Alarm’, Franz Ferdinand’s ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’, Babyshambles’Down In Albion’ and Oasis’Don’t Believe The Truth.

The award was presented by Ordinary Boys singer Preston who didn’t turn up with Chantelle in the end after much speculation.
