Kanye West and Paul McCartney to appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’ 40th anniversary show

West appears alongside Rihanna at Super Bowl pre-party concert

Kanye West and Paul McCartney will be among the stars to appear on ‘Saturday Night Live’ to celebrate the US comedy sketch show’s 40th anniversary.

The special edition takes place on February 14 and, as reported by DIY Magazine, will also feature Justin Timberlake and Paul Simon, as well as former cast members Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell and Chris Rock, plus actors Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks, among others.

The news was revealed by two ads that aired during last night’s Super Bowl. Recent McCartney and West collaborator Rihanna had been considered to headline this year’s coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show slot, but the NFL instead went for Katy Perry. Satellite TV company DirectTV, however, recruited the 26-year-old to perform alongside West at its annual Super Bowl pre-party concert.

As pointed out by Consequence of Sound, the duo played Kanye’s ‘Only One’, ‘Diamonds’ and ‘All of the Lights’ (which originally featured Rihanna), as well as a number of the singer’s solo tracks. Their recent track ‘FourFiveSeconds’, however, was left out of the set.
