BBC deny Kanye West requested ‘ironed carpets’ for Jools Holland appearance

Reports claimed rapper had made bizarre demands for his 'Later...' appearance

The BBC have denied reports that Kanye West demanded that his dressing room carpet was ironed before his appearance on Later… With Jools Holland this week.

According to a report in The Sun, West claimed his dressing room carpet was “too bumpy” and asked for it to be ironed. The paper also reported that the rapper demanded everything in his dressing room was white, including sheets for the walls and his flowers. The tabloid further alleged West had ordered that his set at Later’s studio in Maidstone, Kent be demolished and rebuilt for his appearance on Later Live on Tuesday. He performed alongside Kings Of Leon, Drenge, Lorde, Sting and Bill Medley in the opening episode of the show’s 43rd series.

However, a source close to the show told NME: “This is all utter nonsense. It’s wish fulfilment – people expect stars of his stature to make diva demands, but the truth is Kanye was great to work with. There were more flowers in the dressing room than usual, but that’s it.”

On tomorrow’s (September 20) extended version of Later, West will perform his new single Bound 2, plus Blood On The Leaves and New Slaves from his current album ‘Yeezus’.
