Rapper reportedly turns down the chance to appear as a judge on the US talent show
Kanye West has reportedly snubbed the chance to appear on the judging panel of the forthcoming series of American Idol.
The rapper had been tipped to appear alongside Keith Urban, following Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson’s recent exits but he turned the chance down because he didn’t want to lose his credibility.
A source told Us Weekly: “He didn’t want to go that mainstream. He didn’t want to lose any street cred. So he turned it down.”
The source also claims that three other contenders were approached including, The Voice coach and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am, Sean Combs and Rodney Jerkins. Minaj and Carey quit their posts earlier this summer after one series. They had a long running feud during their stint on the show.
Meanwhile, West is set to appear in his his first televised TV interview in three years on Kris, the new TV show featuring Kim Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner. Earlier this week it was also confirmed that West won’t face felony charges after a photographer accused the rapper of attacking him at LAX airport last month (July).
