Kanye West’s ‘Cruel Winter’ confirmed by Big Sean

But the protege wanted to keep featured track for his own album

Kanye West‘s rumoured ‘Cruel Winter’ album has been confirmed by his protege Big Sean.

The rap megastar’s most recent project saw him team up with signings to his GOOD Music label for the concept album ‘Cruel Summer’. Rumours of a follow-up in time with the change in seasons have been rife, but have so far remained rumours.

Now, Sean has revealed in an interview with DJ Semtex, which you can listen to below that he has indeed recorded a track for inclusion on ‘Cruel Winter’. But like ‘Clique’, the breakout track from ‘Cruel Summer’, he had wanted to keep it for his own forthcoming second album ‘Hall Of Fame: Memoirs Of A Detroit Player’.

He said: “Oh God. Swerve. Yeah, you’re gonna get it,” but added that that he has no idea when the record will be released: “I don’t know about that. You gotta wait and see man, I don’t know. It can’t be ‘Cruel Spring’. It’s gotta be in a timely fashion. I know I did something for it, for ‘Cruel Winter’, and I was like ‘Godammit, I need to cut this for my album because it’s really good’.

“But either way, that’s how ‘Clique’ was, ‘Clique’ was supposed to be for my album and ended up going on ‘Cruel Summer’. I was like ‘Godammit’. I’m still on a song with Jay-Z and Kanye, but it originally was going to be my first single for my next album. We got so many singles that it doesn’t even matter.”

Earlier this month, an apparent trailer for ‘Cruel Winter’ emerged online, but was quickly debunked as having nothing to do with West, instead made by filmmaker Austin Christianson. But the Wiz Khalifa collaborator suggested that the clip could be a leaked audition piece.

He said: “Without getting into too many details, I will say that the trailer was independently made and the video is essentially a concept trailer. It’s used for pitching an idea and/or concept to a client. With that said, the video was being used for pitching purposes and it’s naturally intended only for the client to see.”
