Dion Wilson lets slip that the rapper is recording his sixth studio album
Kanye West is now working on his next solo album, a top producer has confirmed.
West, who has spent the last year touring and promoting ‘Watch The Throne’, his collaboration album with Jay-Z, had been thought to be focusing on new label’s compilation album rather than recording new solo material, but producer No I.D has now let slip that he’s working on his next solo album.
Speaking to MTV News, No I.D, who worked on West’s most recent albums ‘808s & Heartbreaks’ and ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ as well as ‘Watch The Throne’, confirmed that he was putting together material for what will be West’s sixth studio album.
The producer, whose real name is Dion Wilson, said: “I’m not working on that [Cruel Summer] album, I’m working on his album.” He then added he expected ‘G.O.O.D Music’ to be something special, adding: “This is Kanye. You know what to expect from the family. He hasn’t missed yet, so don’t expect him to miss. It’s what you expect and everything you don’t expect.”
The ‘G.O.O.D Music’ album, which is titled ‘Cruel Summer’, will feature all the acts signed to West’s label including Mr Hudson, 2 Chainz, Kid Cudi, Big Sean as well as Pusha T. The tracklisting for the album has yet to be confirmed.
An experimental 30-minute film inspired album, which is also titled also titled ‘Cruel Summer’ made its debut in Cannes last month. The film, which was projected onto seven screens inside a pyramid-shaped tent, stars hip-hop artist and actor Kid Cudi as a car thief who falls in love with a blind Arabian princes.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Kanye is also currently working on a new solo album comprised entirely of animal sounds and noises from the jungle. “He’s become so obsessed with roars, barks and jungle noises that he’s experimenting with putting them on a recording,” a source told The Sun.
