Kanye West orders £2,000 takeaway curry

Star will fly Welsh chef to New York for special banquet

Kanye West has ordered a takeaway curry from a restaurant in south Wales to be delivered to him in New York – along with the chef.

The British Raj restaurant in Rogerstone near Newport is preparing a rare five foot long Ayre fish for the rapper and his entourage, the BBC reports. The food and head chef Kaysor Ahmed will be flown to New York on Tuesday to make sure the curry is served properly. The meal will serve eight to 10 people.

Restaurant manager Masud Ahmed said his staff were “very nervous”.

“This sort of thing happens once in a blue moon so we are very pleased to be able to do it,” he added.

Aside from the Ayre fish the curry will also include poppadoms, bhajis and naan breads.

West has never eaten in the British Raj before. The £2,000 tab only covers the food and the chef’s time. West’s label will pick up the flight costs.
