Band's parents watch on at homecoming show

Kasabian opened their UK tour with a storming hometown gig in Leicester tonight (December 5).

With their parents watching from the balcony at the De Montfort Hall, the band tore through tracks from Number One album ‘Empire’ – including raucous versions of ‘Shoot The Runner’, ‘The Doberman’ and ‘Stuntman’.

“It’s fucking good to be back in Leicester, man,” singer Tom Meighan told the crowd. “You’ve been with us from the beginning. You’ve watched us grow since were 17 and we were rehearsing at the Big Wheel. It means a lot.”

The band also played tunes from their self-titled debut album, including ‘LSF’, ‘Club Foot’ and ‘Processed Beats’ – introduced as “old classics”.

There was a distinct football theme to the evening, with Meighan decked out in a retro Leicester City shirt and leading the crowd in “Who are we? Blue army!” chants between songs.

Kasabian played:

‘Brown Acid’

‘Shoot The Runner’

‘Reason Is Treason’

‘Sun/Rise/Light/Flies’

‘Cutt Off’

‘Me Plus One’

‘By My Side’

‘Empire’

‘Seek & Destroy’

‘British Legion’

‘Processed Beats’

‘The Last Trip’

‘The Doberman’

‘Apnoea’

‘Club Foot’

‘Stuntman’
