Kasabian are first band to ‘play’ at Wembley

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno is on target as stadium reopens

Kasabian were the first band to play at the new Wembley Stadium when it reopened at the weekend (March 17).

However rather than show off their musical skills – Muse are still set to be the first band to play the stadium gig-wise on June 16-17 – bandmembers Serge Pizzorno and Chris Edwards were on the new pitch showing off their football skills.

The band members were among a host of celebrities including radio DJ Chris Evans, former Westlife singer Brian McFadden and cricketer Phil Tufnell, involved in a charity football match.

The game was held as a test event for the new venue and was witnessed by 60,000 fans.

The first goal at the new stadium was scored by former professional Mark Bright, however Pizzorno was also on target telling NME.COM he “bagged one” during the afternoon.

The band are now getting ready for a summer of festival appearances including Isle Of Wight, V Festival and Ireland’s Green Energy.
