KASABIAN ROCK BRIXTON

Both bands make up for the absence of Babyshambles in style...

Kasabian and Goldie Lookin Chain and THE RAKES were reunited and to bring the house down at the SHOCKWAVES NME AWARDS SUPERSHOW in LONDON last night (February 10).

The two headline bands have spent the last year following each other round the world playing at various festivals, and took the chance to catch up at Brixton Academy.

Goldie Lookin Chain rapper Eggsy told NME: “We’ve met Kasabian a few times and they’re nice lads aren’t they?”

Both bands were battling flu bugs and the worse for jet lag, having arrived back from playing shows in Tokyo and Osaka at the Sonic Mania festivals, but were keen to make up for the fact that Babyshambles were forced to pull out at the 11th hour due to Pete Doherty’s recent trip to rehab.

All three bands more than made up for Babyshambles however, with The Rakes shining on a bigger stage, Goldie Lookin Chain debuting an untitled new song, and Kasabian continuing their baggy assault on the nation’s hearts and minds.

Following the show Goldie Lookin Chain were straight on a bus to Manchester for the first date of their Road To Rehab UK tour, while Kasabian were onto a plane to continue their US assault.
