Kasabian play secret hometown show

The band play to just 500 fans in Leicester

Kasabian played a secret gig in their hometown of Leicester last night (July 26).

Performing as part of the Vodafone TBA series, the band packed out the city’s Athena Bar with 500 adoring fans. Playing the majority of breakthrough album ‘Empire’ as well as their early hits, the band were given a rapturous reception by the crowd, which continued throughout the gig.

Sporting square glasses, frontman Tom Meighan constantly thanked the crowd for their support and ended the show by encouraging the crowd to sing Leicester City FC terrace chants.

The gig also saw one of the first live outings of ‘Fast Fuse’, sung by guitarist Serge Pizzorno, which is set to be the lead track on the band’s forthcoming EP.

The gig was filmed live and will be broadcast on Channel 4 on August 4 at 10.25am.

Kasabian now play an intimate show next Tuesday (July 31) at London’s ICA climaxing the iTunes Festival, before rounding off their summer plans with a main stage slot at V Festival over the weekend of August 18,19.
