Single is officially released on October 28

Katy B has unveiled the video for her new single ‘5AM’ – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.

The track, which is officially released on October 28, is taken from the singer’s forthcoming second album. Speaking previously about the record, which is the follow-up to her debut LP ‘On A Mission’, she said her songwriting was now more focused on “real life”.

She explained: “My first album was my life from when I was 18 to 21, and I guess this is my life from 21 to 24,” she said. “It is obviously a lot different to what my life was like at university and I’ve tried to keep some of the things that make a Katy B song – I love writing about moments in my life. Even though they might seem quite small and non-important [they] are kind of special.”

However, the singer has also previously insisted that that her new material is still very much aligned with London grime and dubstep radio station Rinse. “I definitely think this is still a Rinse record,” she said. “I’ve worked with Geeneus [Rinse boss and producer] all along the way and it feels like it’s half of his creation. It’s kind of like I am in a band with Rinse. You never know, in the future, it might go somewhere else, I might get pregnant and make a country album, but right now this is Katy vs Rinse.”

Katy B is set to play a hometown gig on October 1 at XOYO, and previously promised fans to play songs from her forthcoming second album when discussing the gig on Twitter.
