Katy Perry has announced that she will release her 3D concert movie, titled Katy Perry:Part Of Me, around the July 4 US holiday.

The ‘California Gurls’ singer broke the news live on air during an interview with Kelly Osbourne for showbiz channel, E!, on the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

She told Osbourne during the interview that the movie would be called Katy Perry:Part Of Me’ and that she planned to release the concert film around the US Independence Day holiday celebrations. In reference to her hit single ‘Firework’, the singer encouraged her fans to “go and see it and be a firework”. The movie is set to be released by Paramount Pictures’ low-budget distributer, Insurge.

Magical Elves, the production group behind Justin Bieber’s 3D movie Never Say Never, are in talks to direct the movie, which will show Perry’s life on and off stage, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Craig Brewer, who directed the studio’s Footloose re-boot, has signed up to be an executive producer on the film.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry has recently come under attack from celebrated feminist author Naomi Wolf, who described the video for Perry’s new single, ‘Part of Me’, as “propaganda for marines”.
