Katy Perry signs computer game deal with The Sims

The singer will work with Electronic Arts on Katy Perry themed content and ad campaigns

Katy Perry has signed a deal with Electronic Arts, the company behind the best-selling computer game The Sims.

The deal means that Perry will appear in a host of games in The Sims franchise and in themed content as well as ‘virtual goods’. The singer will also appear in advertising campaigns on TV, online and in stores for the game, reports The Guardian.

Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music for Electronic Arts, has said that Perry is a longterm fan of the game, going so far as to record her 2009 single ‘Hot N Cold’ in the ‘Simlish’ language. “Today marks the start of the most integrated and exciting collaboration with any artist in the history of The Sims,” said Schnur. “No performer could better represent the humour and fun of The Sims brand.”

“I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim,” said Perry of the collaboration. Working with The Sims Studio, Perry will have her say in Katy Perry themed accessories, clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props for the games, kicking off with a collector’s edition of The Sims 3 Showtime this March in which characters can become “singers, acrobats and magicians, or even moonlight as a DJ”.
