Keane ‘horrified’ after Tories use their song at manifesto launch

Richard Hughes says band weren't asked permission to play song

Keane‘s Richard Hughes has said he is “horrified” that the Conservative party played the band’s 2004 song ‘Everybody’s Changing’ at their conference in south London this morning (April 13).

The drummer, writing on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/richardkeane, said that the party had not asked for permission to air the UK Top Five hit at the Battersea Power Station, where leader David Cameron gave a speech.

“Told the Tories played Keane at their manifesto launch,” he wrote. “Am horrified. To be clear – we were not asked. I will not vote for them.”

David Bowie‘s ‘Changes’ was also played at the conference, which was attended by 500 Tory candidates plus new members, supporters and the media.
