Two Door Cinema Club, Major Lazer and Phoenix are also named among those putting in the most hours
Having put together listings from hundreds of festivals over the world this summer, the website found that the Compton rapper had played for the most time on festival stages this year, with Lamar performing for more than 46 hours or 2760 minutes in total.
Hot on his heels were Two Door Cinema Club, who came in second with 41 hours including spots at last weekend’s V Festival where they debuted new track ‘Changing Of The Seasons’. The rest of the top five was filled by Of Monsters and Men, Local Natives and Major Lazer, whilst the likes of Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, The Vaccines and Calvin Harris all racked up impressive totals.
Kendrick Lamar also recently caused a furore when his collaboration with Big Sean, entitled ‘Control (HOF)’, was made available online last week.
After proclaiming himself, Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem and Andre 3000 as the greatest MCs of all time, Lamar then goes on to pledge to “murder” his current competitors in the verse. He states: “I’m usually homeboys with the same niggas I’m rhyming with/ But this is hip-hop and them niggas should know what time it is/ And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale, Pusha-T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron’, Tyler, Mac Miller/ I got love for you all but I’m trying to murder you niggas”.
Reactions to the track were varied, with artists including P Diddy, J. Cole and Talib Kweli all taking to Twitter to express their opinion. Rapper Riff Raff also responded to Lamar’s verse with his own track ‘Ballin’ Out Of Control (The Neon Response)’ shortly after.
Kendrick Lamar released his debut album ‘Good Kid, mAAd City’ towards the end of 2012.
