Kendrick Lamar threw the ceremonial first pitch at the LA Dodgers baseball game against San Francisco Giants earlier this week (April 27).
The Dodgers are the Compton rapper’s local team, with footage of Lamar’s effort airing below. Lamar followed on from fellow rapper 50 Cent, whose wayward pitch at the game between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates went viral in 2014.
Lamar recently revealed that he and Prince hit the studio together last September, but they didn’t have enough time to finish their collaboration. Lamar was at Prince’s estate in Minnesota last year for the Yahoo live stream to mark the release of Prince’s two releases: ‘Art Official Age’ and ‘PlectrumElectrum’.
Kendrick also revealed that his new album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ was initially titled ‘Tu Pimp A Caterpillar’ as a homage to the late rapper Tupac Shakur, who had a huge influence on the LP.
Lamar recently pulled out of his planned appearance on Later… with Jools Holland. The rapper was due to appear on the show alongside guests including Noel Gallagher and Mumford & Sons on April 21. However, as confirmed to NME, his promotional trip to the UK has been postponed, meaning the Later… appearance was been cancelled.
