Iggy Azalea uploads photo in support of Kesha after Dr Luke case is thrown out of court

Court has rejected Kesha's effort to break from her contract with Sony

Iggy Azalea has shown her support for Kesha after the singer failed in her legal bid to be released from her contract with Sony.

Yesterday, a New York judge threw the singer’s case out of court, siding with the major label. In October 2014, the pop star filed a lawsuit against her long-time producer Dr Luke for “mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault”, and was looking to be freed from her contract with him. Dr Luke has repeatedly denied the accusations.

Azalea has uploaded a photo to Twitter showing Kesha and herself horseriding, along with the caption: “Me and the very funny @KeshaRose on defender and biz! #FreeKesha”. See that post beneath.

The rapper had previously offered her support to Kesha, writing on Twitter in February: “I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but I believe Kesha deserves the ability to move forward, create and earn a living.”

New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich previously denied the singer a preliminary injunction in February, telling the singer that Dr Luke’s offer to allow her to record without his involvement “decimates her argument.”

Kesha filed for an appeal last month. Her attorney Mark Geragos compared the singer being tied to her recording contract to slavery, writing in the court papers: “Plaintiff seeks reversal of the Order on the following grounds. First, the Court erred in basing its decision on its finding that Kesha could record without interference from Gottwald.”

The judge rejected the comparison after Sony said they will not push the artist to work exclusively with Dr. Luke.

Dr Luke has denied Kesha’s allegations on numerous occasions, suggesting that the singer’s claims are motivated by money.
