"It hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons" Kesha says
Kesha has shown her support for Lady Gaga and her powerful Oscars performance.
Gaga took to the stage at last night’s ceremony and performed The Hunting Ground song ‘Til It Happens To You’. She was joined onstage by a group of survivors of sexual assault as she sang about rape on university campus.
Kesha, who Gaga has been very supportive of in recent weeks as she battles Sony and producer Dr. Luke, made her feelings on the performance clear when she tweeted: “Thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars. it hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons.”
Gaga did not pick up the Oscar for Best Original Song with ‘Til It Happens To You’ with the award instead going to Sam Smith for his Bond theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’.
Other musical highlights from last night’s ceremony included Dave Grohl paying tribute to both David Bowie and Alan Rickman by covering The Beatles, the Amy Winehouse film picking up Best Documentary and legendary composer Ennio Morricone taking home another Best Original Score gong, this time for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.
