"I need y'all to know I got so many haters within the industry and these clowns know I'm bout to crush their entire existence"
The Cleveland rapper and songwriter launched a stinging attack on his “haters in the industry” in a series of tweets this evening (September 6), which went on to reference West and Drake. Cudi has worked extensively with the former in the past, last appearing on West’s ‘Father Stretch My Hands’ off February’s ‘The Life of Pablo’.
Beginning his online statement by informing his followers of how many “haters [he has] within the industry,” Cudi then warned that “these clowns know I’m ’bout to crush their entire existance [sic].” He then appeared to preface his criticism of Kanye and Drake by referencing how often the two rappers feature in many people’s ranking of the “top 5” rappers of all time.
“Everyone thinks they’re soooo great,” Cudi wrote. “Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them. Let me tell you something: The days of the fuckery are over. The fake ones wont be lasting too much longer.”
Cudi then went on to claim “I am the culture”, before explaining that “I feel fantastic, I feel like taking over” and then revealing who his tweets were directed at.
“My tweets apply to who they apply. ‘Ye, Drake, whoever. These niggas don’t give a fuck about me. And they ain’t fuckin’ with me. Niggas keep you close when they see how powerful you are by yourself. When they see your greatness. Out of fear. I’ve been loyal to those who haven’t been to me and that ends now. Now I’m your threat.”
Cudi did praise a number of artists in one tweet, shouting out the likes of A$AP Rocky “and the whole A$AP family”, as well as recent collaborator Travi$ Scott.
The artist concluded his tweets by declaring: “From here I’ll let the music speak. As you were, peace and love to my supporters and true ones.”
