Bassist ties the knot with long-term partner in LA
It’s taken them 28 years to finally make it down the aisle, but fire-breathing Kiss legend Gene Simmons and former Playboy centerfold Shannon Tweed finally got married on Saturday (October 1), just in time for the new series of his reality TV show Gene Simmons Family Jewels.
The ceremony at the Beverley Hills Hotel in Los Angeles was watched by the couple’s two children, best man Nick, 22 and Sophie, 19, who was the maid of honour, reports People. Other guests included the veteren rocker’s bandmates, Hugh Hefner, comedian and talk show host Bill Maher and 400 other close friends and family.
The first dance was to Etta James‘ ‘At Last’, performed by their daughter Sophie, and the reception featured a set from Kiss themselves, running through ‘Lick It Up’, ‘Shout It Out Loud’ and ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’. Reports suggest they kept the panto bloodshed of their normal shows to a minimum.
It’s all a bit of a turnaround for Simmons, who once claimed to have slept with over 5,000 women, and his wandering eye has caused tension in the past between him and Tweed, who stormed out of an interview on the HLN show in the US back in June when questioned about his success with the ladies.
The new series of Family Jewels starts tomorrow (October 4) and 9pm (GMT) on A&E, with a wedding special on October 18.
