Kylie Minogue says she’s started work on a new album

Singer keen to combine 'personal' songs with pop bangers on next LP

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she has started work on a new album.

The Australian pop princess put out her most recent LP, ‘The Abbey Road Sessions’, earlier this week but in an interview with Yahoo OMG said that she had begun working on an album of new material.

“I have started work on the next album,” she said. “Obviously this year has had me focused on other things but when I had a bit of time – actually in January, that long ago – I took my first steps into the studio. Next year will be the time to really get stuck in. I don’t know studio-wise where [it] will take me.”

Speaking about her hopes for the album, meanwhile, she said: “I imagine it will be as always a mixture of songs I write and songs that come in that are killer tracks that I want. I said earlier in the year that I would love the next album to embrace my inner Ibiza but I think most of them do anyway.”

Referencing her recent single ‘Flower’, she added: “It’s been interesting this year with a song like ‘Flower’, which is such a personal song and so different to what people would expect from me. But the response to that has been amazing and people have really responded to it being a personal story so I’m keen to find a way where I could marry the two.”

‘The Abbey Road Sessions’ features a host of classic Kylie songs set to new, orchestral arrangements. Nick Cave also features on the album, having re-recorded his part on the pair’s 1996 duet ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’. Other tracks on the record include ‘Better The Devil You Know’, ‘The Locomotion’, ‘Slow’, ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ and ‘Hand On Your Heart’.

‘The Abbey Road Sessions’ tracklisting is:

‘All The Lovers’
