The track is taken from forthcoming second album 'Trouble In Paradise'

La Roux has debuted ‘Uptight Downtown’ – the first track to be taken from forthcoming second album ‘Trouble In Paradise’. Scroll down to listen to the track now.

La Roux originally consisted of singer Elly Jackson and producer Ben Langmaid, however Langmaid left the group during the recording of ‘Trouble In Paradise’ leaving Jackson as the sole member.

The first offering to be previewed from the release was ’Let Me Down Gently’, while other tracks set to make the record include ‘Paradise Is You’, ‘Tropical Chancer’ and ‘Sexotheque’.

La Roux first came to prominence in 2008 with debut single ‘Quicksand’ and had a string of successful singles including ‘In For The Kill’ and ‘Bulletproof’ alongside a Number Two album with their self-titled debut LP.

No new material has been released from Jackson since then, however, making these tracks the first new offerings in nearly five years. Speaking about the lengthy timeframe, Jackson recently told NME, “I realised the album I wanted to make would require me being a much better musician than I was. There’s been a lot of learning and it’s been fun and I didn’t want it to stop, basically.”

La Roux is set to embark on a UK tour this November, taking in nine dates across the country, while ‘Trouble In Paradise’ is due for release on July 7 through Polydor.

La Roux will play:

London Conway Hall (July 1)
Glasgow O2 ABC (November 5)
Leeds Metropolitan University (7)
Birmingham Institute (8)
Bristol Academy (10)
London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (12)
Norwich UEA (14)
