Hilton has since released a statement claiming Gaga's accusations are 'utterly false' and 'defamatory'
Lady Gaga accused notorious US gossip blogger Perez Hilton of trying to stalk her yesterday (August 18) in a tweet that has since been deleted.
When a fan claimed that Hilton was at the singer’s apartment building in New York, Gaga tweeted angrily at Hilton: “STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”
She then posted the following tweet, which has also now been deleted: “DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? IM A HUMAN BEING.”
Gaga had previously hit out at Hilton on Twitter on Friday (August 16), claiming he mocked her hip injury earlier this year by sending her a picture showing Madonna pointing a gun at her head while Gaga is confined to a wheelchair.
Hilton has since responded to Gaga’s accusation by posting what he calls “A Statement On Lady GaGa’s Lies” on his website. Explaining that he is planning a move from LA to New York, the blogger writes: “[On] Sunday, my realtor showed us a list of possible apartments to rent. I learned only after the fact that Lady GaGa lives in one of the buildings we looked at, and she was across the country in Los Angeles when I viewed that building.”
“After a day of innocent house-hunting,” Hilton continues, “I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my “wifey” and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter…. Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger.” Hilton also claimed he had been sent death threats by the singer’s fans.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga‘s new single ‘Applause’, the first track to be taken from her forthcoming album ‘ARTPOP’, entered the UK’s Official Singles Chart at Number 5 yesterday (August 18). The singer will perform “one hour of all new music” from the album, due November 11, when she performs at London’s Roundhouse on September 1 on the first night of this year’s iTunes Festival.
