Lady Gaga’s concert promoters demand payment for Indonesia gig scrapped due to terrorist plot

'Born This Way' star's team want recompensing for scrapped gig

Lady Gaga‘s concert promoters are demanding payment for her scrapped gig in Indonesia, which was cancelled due to fears of a terrorist plot.

The singer was scheduled to play a show in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, last summer, but the concert was cancelled in May after Islamic groups in the country expressed opposition to her “vulgar” style and made various threats towards her.

Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, her concert promoters Live Nation LGTours, Mermaid Touring and the Atom Factory have filed a lawsuit against insurance provider Lloyds Of London. They allege that the insurers breached their ‘Terrorism Policy’, which should entitle people to the “ascertained net loss” for any gigs forfeited because of “the sole and direct result of Terrorism and/or Sabotage or Threat”.

They are reportedly asking for at least $75,000 (£49,500) to cover the losses suffered and have reportedly accused Lloyds Of London of “despicable conduct that subjected Plaintiffs to cruel and unjust hardship in conscious disregard of the Plaintiffs rights… with the intent to vex, injure or annoy the Plaintiffs, such as to constitute oppression, fraud or malice”.

Last month (February 16), it was reported that Lady Gaga could lose out on up to £16m after she was forced to cancel all of the remaining dates of her Born This Way Ball tour in the US and Canada. The dates were pulled to allow the singer to undergo surgery for an injury to her hip.

Lady Gaga is expected to release her third album, ‘ARTPOP’, later this year.
