Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, ‘Glee’ among 2011 Emmy nominations

Shortlist announced for September 18 ceremony

Lady Gaga has received five nominations at this year’s 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

The singer’s HBO live special Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden is up for five gongs, including for Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Special and other technical nominations.

Former N Sync man and The Social Network star Justin Timberlake received three nominations for his appearance on the Saturday Night Live season finale in May.

Elsewhere, Glee received 12 nominations – seven less than at last year’s awards – while American Idol is up for ten awards.

Hugh Laurie – who released his debut LP ‘Let Them Talk’ earlier this year – was given his sixth Outstanding Lead Actor for his role in House.

Away from music, Kate Winslet-starring costume drama Mildred Pierce received 21 nominations, while Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs both received nods.

Other British stars nominated include Idris Elba, Kelly Macdonald and Archie Panjabi.
