Leaked Sony emails suggest Lady Gaga will voice Betty Boop in new animated movie

Film to be produced by Simon Cowell

Lady Gaga has been earmarked to provide the voice to iconic animated character Betty Boop in an upcoming movie.

That’s according to Sony emails obtained in last year’s hack by cyber terrorists and published by Wikileaks. Simon Cowell announced his plans to make the first Betty Boop film last summer.

As reported by The Toronto Sun, Columbia Pictures executive Lauren Abrahams wrote in an email that “Lady Gaga is attached to voice Betty Boop & do some of the music”.

Abrahams also revealed that the film will be an “animated live action hybrid”, although she did confess to be not completely sold on the idea: “Not sure really who it’s for in a big mainstream way”.

Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad added, “It sounds kind of weird to me to be honest. I don’t mind if we don’t chase it.”

Gaga’s role in the film has yet to be confirmed. Just last week the ‘Paparazzi’ singer launched a new scheme to promote emotional wellness for today’s youth. The ‘Emotional Revolution’ project is a partnership between the star’s own Born This Way foundation and Yale University’s Center for Emotional Intelligence.
