Lana Del Rey on Courtney Love: ‘We’ve more in common than is visible from the outside’

Pair toured together during the summer

Lana Del Rey has discussed her experience touring with Courtney Love.

The pair played a series of gigs together in the summer as part of the Endless Summer tour. Ahead of the tour, Love herself dubbed the pair “the queen of rage and the queen of anguish” respectively.

Speaking for a cover story for this week’s new, free NME, the singer said: “Touring with Courtney was great, we have some things in common that might not be visible from the outside.”

“I think the most important thing I learned was that some people just have it when it comes to performing. She’s totally entrancing, a born performer.”

Elsewhere in the NME interview, Del Rey stated that she has “early” ideas of what she wants her next album to sound like.

The singer only released her latest album ‘Honeymoon’ in September, her third album in four years, but has already started planning its follow-up.

Del Rey said: “I do have early thoughts about what I’d like to do with [the album]”.

She continued: “My label, Interscope, is pretty flexible and open to my records coming out at any time, so I don’t have that pressure. I’m just happy to be able to keep on making music I can stand behind. That’s enough for me.”
