Lauryn Hill announces one-off O2 Academy Brixton date – Priority Ticket details

The one-off show is singer's sole UK date this year

Lauryn Hill has announced a show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on September 20, 2014 – O2 Priority Tickets will be available from 9am on Wednesday April 30.

The performance is a rare one from the singer-songwriter and former Fugees member. Her only UK show in the past five years was an appearance at London’s Indigo2 in April 2012. On that occasion, she performed much of her revered solo album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, a handful of Fugees songs and covers of tracks by artists including Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder.

The performance follows some difficult times for Hill, who was last month forced to deny reports that she is being reinvestigated for tax evasion. She was released from a three-month sentence for tax evasion in October last year. In a statement issued to Pitchfork, her publicist said: “Contrary to media gossip (fact checking seems to be a dying art-form) there are no changes in Ms. Hill’s legal status.”

In February, Hill covered The Beatles’ ‘Something’ on the Late Show With David Letterman. Click here to watch that performance and read NME.COM’s Lucy Jones on how it could mark the start of a proper comeback.
