Lawson return with ‘fresh and exciting’ new single Roads – listen

Band are set to release their first album for three years in summer

Lawson return with new single Roads on May 10, previewing their first new album for three years, which is due for release in summer.

The guitar-pop band recorded the single at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, as previously used by Jack White, Kings Of Leon and Fall Out Boy. The lyric video for Roads can be seen below.

Singer Andy Brown said: “It was important as a band that we come back with something fresh and exciting. Roads feels like a step forward. It explores addictions that people can go through. Writing and recording at Blackbird allowed us to test ourselves and try new sounds and directions. We’re really proud of it.”

It’s the first taste of the four-piece’s new album, which will follow 2012’s Chapman Square, which reached No 4 in the UK. Since the album’s release, Lawson released new singles Brokenhearted and Juliet for a repackaged edition of Chapman Square before a headline tour in 2013.

The band play at Live At Leeds and The Great Escape, as well as a headline tour this month.

Lawson will play at:
Manchester Gorilla (March 30)
London Scala (31)
Glasgow Garage (April 2)
