The singer-songwriter's gigs have been put back by six months

Leonard Cohen has postponed his European tour for six months while he recovers from a back injury.

The veteran singer-songwriter, who returned to touring after more than 10 years in 2008, is believed to be undergoing physiotherapy for the injury. The tour will now begin in the French city of Caen on September 15, 2010, according to his spokesperson.

It is not yet known how the 75-year-old, who appeared at the Grammy Awards to collect a Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday (January 31), sustained his injury.
