Both Aldean and Lil Wayne are 'artist-owners' on Jay Z's Tidal streaming service
Country music star Jason Aldean has caused controversy after allegedly wearing blackface for a Halloween costume.
The Nashville Gab recently published an image that it claims shows Aldean, his wife and friends posing in their Halloween outfits. Aldean appears to be seen wearing black facepaint and a wig of black dreadlocks.
Following criticism and accusations of racism, the singer’s publicist confirmed to the Associated Press that Aldean “dressed as rapper Lil Wayne for Halloween” but provided no further explanation or apology.
Aldean has yet to comment on the matter publicly, neither has Lil Wayne.
Meanwhile, Stereogum notes that both Aldean and Lil Wayne are ‘artist-owners’ of Jay Z’s music streaming service Tidal.
Last week, Lil Wayne’s house was raided by police in Miami Beach, Florida following a financial dispute. Local news sources reported that civil processing units took items from the home following a civil order by a judge in Miami-Dade County.
A civil case is being brought against the rapper for non-payment of a $2million unpaid bill relating to an airline lease, according to Billboard. The order permitted enforcers to break locks and enter the house.
Various sources report that art worth $2million – part of a total collection estimated in value at $30million – was removed from the house.
