Rapper has served eight months in Rikers Island jail
Lil Wayne has been released from New York‘s Rikers Island prison, after serving eight months of his sentence on a gun charge.
The rapper was sentenced to a year in prison in March after pleading guilty to attempted weapon possession in relation to a gun being found on his tourbus. He was let out early for good behaviour.
Earlier this week, he wrote a letter from his cell thanking the likes of P Diddy for visiting him in prison, saying that he “never felt alone” while serving his sentence.
Lil Wayne is now said to be heading home to Miami.
