Singer reacts after an online spat with Twitter user posing as a soldier
Lily Allen has got into an online spat after a man claiming to be a serving soldier allegedly sent her a racially abusive message.
The row started after a Twitter user, who claimed to a be sniper in the Army, apparently posted the following comment on her page Twitter.com/lilyrosecooper: “Just seen you bought shit, I mean adopted a child from Africa.”
The comment has since been removed, but the singer then appealed to her followers to take notice, adding:
How do you report someone on here? That guy I retweeted should be banned.
Allen then reported the abuse to the Ministry Of Defence, who are now investigating the incident. An Army spokesman said: “Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination. We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing.”
The singer, who confirmed recently that she is expecting her second child, also apparently said she was surprised nobody guessed she was pregnant after her appearance with Professor Green at The Stone Roses‘ second Heaton Park show (June 30).
The pop sensation confirmed her return to music when she turned up with the Hackney rapper to perform their 2010 single ‘Just Be Good To Green’. Their hook-up is based on Beats International’s ‘Dub Be Good To Me’, which was itself a reworking of The SOS Band’s classic ‘Just Be Good To Me’.
