Lily Allen hails England’s Ashes exploits at V Festival

Singer keeps one eye on The Oval during Chelmsford set

Lily Allen paid tribute to England‘s cricket team at V Festival this evening (August 22).

Playing the V Stage at the Chelmsford site, the singer, who attended the fifth Ashes test earlier in the afternoon, applauded Andrew Strauss‘ team’s performance so far.

“You alright England? It’s nice to see you lot,” she declared. “And we’re thrashing the Aussies at the cricket!”

The singer, who was sporting some David Bowie-esque eye make-up, later paused her set to get a score update from her bandmates, who were keeping an eye on the going ons at The Oval.

Music-wise, the singer played a set drawn from her two albums, plus Kaiser Chiefs cover ‘Oh My God’, before performing an “acoustic bit” which included ‘Littlest Things’.

Keeping one eye on the cricket, Allen then played ‘Smile’ after learning England‘s lead in the game had stretched to beyond 500, telling the crowd: “I fucking love the cricket!”

Later Allen covered Britney Spears‘Womanizer’ before dedicating her own ‘Fuck You’ to “everyone who’s pissed me off”.

She then took off her high heels, complaining she hurt her back falling offstage in Sweden recently, to wrap the set up with former single ‘Not Fair’.
